The West method is a philosophy of pointing dog training, developed by Bill West and refined and individualized by many well known trainers such as Bill Gibbons, Maurice Lindley and others.
Silence defines this method. Dog psychology and the idea that the bird is the dog’s teacher are also key concepts.
In addition to West’s influence in revolutionizing pointing dog training, he was also a dedicated teacher and mentor to other trainers. Those trainers in turn continued to keep the pay it forward training philosophy alive.
In an effort to continue this tradition, this site hopes to help the newbie, amateur and experienced alike, with a training method that is simple to understand and implement and that will bring years of joy and camaraderie in the field with your dog.
